Potsie Is Adopted!
Potsie aka Schatzi with Julie
Potsie came into the rescue at a year old after he was picked up as a stray. He quickly became a volunteer favorite. Such a great dog. Extremely good on leash. Well behaved and very sweet, and loved to play with the other dogs.
Julie and Hilary applied to adopt a young dog for their family, and Julie and her son were regulars at our Volunteer Walk a Dog Days, and wanted to help out while waiting for the right dog. They had another GSP, an older female named Maybelle, and they wanted to be sure the dog they adopted would be a good fit for everyone.
Potsie had recently come into the rescue, and Julie and James spent time with Potsie, walked him and became pretty smitten with him, and asked alot of questions. They went home and discussed Potsie with Hilary and the rest of the family, and asked if they could all come out and meet with Potsie and bring Maybelle too as they were pretty sure, Potsie was the one they had been waiting for. They all came out, everything went great, and everyone was in agreement that Potsie was joining the family! We are so happy for everyone!
We have received some updates as to how Potsie, now known as Schatzi is doing in his new forever home!
“This puppy has brought everyone in our house so much joy! James loves sleeping with him and Kallean is really happy to run with Potsie. He loves that the dogs sleep together on his bed. He’s a grumpy teenager most of the time so seeing him smile with the dog has been lovely. He just loves this dog. I mean, the dog is extremely charming and gentle so what is not to love?
We are looking forward to obedience classes at the humane society next month and booking the classes to train the humans in this household as much as the dog. He seems to be catching on but they are not…
Potsie is doing great, he’s been learning all kinds of things and now can walk on a leash pretty much without pulling!
Hi all
Just writing to give you an update on Potsie (now Schatzi)
He’s doing great in his Service Dog Training, mastering all the basics of sit-down-stand and nose touch. His recall is pretty good too. We’re working with trainers once a week here now.
He continues to bring love and joy to our our grumpy teens. We did not expect that they would invest in the dog like this, but they run/play/sleep with him everyday.
He also likes to “walk” Maybelle on her leash, and can bring his leash when we wants a walk. So cute. Now they play all day. (be sure to check our Facebook page to see the videos)
Such a smart sweet dog! He is still being a dream boat! He’s charming the pants off everyone!
So, thanks for setting us up with this wonderful creature! We’ll see you at the next walk a dog day! James is looking forward to it”!
