Daisy Is Adopted!

Daisy, a four-year-old beautiful German Shorthaired Pointer unfortunately, was given as a gift to a young child who quickly lost interest in her. As with any living creature, an animal should never be treated like a disposable toy. While Daisy was not put away in a closet with the other toys the child grew bored with, Daisy spent a significant amount of time outside. However, recognizing her value, the adults decided to breed her, and she gave birth to at least two litters.

During her last litter, Daisy managed to escape from her yard and was found running down a busy road in LA County. Fortunately, a kind-hearted individual saved her from being hit by traffic. Upon checking the internet for any lost German Shorthaired Pointers with recent litters, the finder came across a listing for puppies located near where Daisy was found. Assuming that Daisy's owners would soon come looking for her, the finder contacted the person selling the pups, only to be met with a rude response and subsequent phone block. The finder took care of Daisy until he was able to find someone who could assist. In the end, Daisy's owners relinquished her, keeping the litter to sell.

Karen and Dan were experienced GSP owners. They hadn’t had a dog for a while after their last GSP passed away, but reached out to us when they were ready to add a family member. They wanted to give a dog a home, and shower them with all of the love and happiness they deserve.

We had a couple of dogs in mind for them, and had them come out to meet them. One of the dogs was Daisy, and they were smitten with her immediately. After spending some time getting to know each other, they knew she was the one. They were committed to provide Daisy everything she needed, and they adopted her.

We are always thrilled to receive updates. They truly make our days brighter. It looks like this match was meant to be! Daisy will be loved and cherished for the rest of her life.

“Yesterday was six weeks that Daisy joined our family; boy, time flies!  Daisy is (unsurprisingly) wonderful!  She's eating well, loves her yard and the pool (still only goes a few steps to wet her underside!), knows several commands, and remains the sweetest, most affectionate, and friendly furbaby!

We are continuing with the trainer; he comes every other week for an hour.  Of course, he's really training us so we can train her!  He is also crazy about her and says we hit the jackpot with her, and we agree!  He also continues to believe that she is capable of being trained as a therapy dog in the near future.  She had a play date with our neighbor's dog, a friendly male, mixed breed, a little bigger than her.

I found out that she likes vegetables, like carrots, broccoli, sweet peppers, cucumbers; and fruit - apples, bananas, and (surprise) tangerines!

Our feelings for her have only intensified since we brought her home; we are totally smitten and in love with her!  What a treasure she is and we are so very grateful that she is a member of our family now.  She still likes to hug everyone upon greeting, which most of our friends and family are fine with.

She has learned commands to sit, "down", come (still working on distance with that) and responds to me when I whistle for her.  We are beginning training her to not pull on her leash during walks and still hope, with more training, she'll become a visiting companion at nursing homes.  Our trainer has good feelings about this, too.  Daisy, like most GSP’s, is very affectionate and playful; she loves running in the yard and takes dips into the pool, but only down a step or two!  She doesn't seem to want to come into the pool with us, but it may happen in the future.  She is my velcro buddy at bedtime, sleeping against my legs, sometimes sharing my pillow!  So far, she's gotten along with most other dogs, but definitely doesn't kowtow to any!

Daisy loves to be petted and massaged, which we are happy to provide! Sometimes I wonder if she gets tired of hearing me tell her, hundreds of times a day, how much I love her!  If we named her ourselves, I would have picked "Joy" or "Sunshine" because that's what she gives us!  We do like the name "Daisy", though, and I remind her that she is the prettiest flower in our garden!  Thanks a million for making her available to us!

As I will mention in every update, THANK YOU, THANK YOU,  THANK YOU for letting us adopt Daisy; she's made every day a happy one for us”.
