Bodhi is Adopted!

Bodhi, a one year old energetic, ball loving GSP who was passed around to four different homes before coming to California GSP Rescue has found his forever home!

This gem of a boy, was known in his foster home as a “Ball Fetching Machine”! He was such a perfect gentleman that people would ask “what is wrong with him”? Absolutely nothing! Bodhi got along with all the dogs he met and didn't mind if they were ball hogs when playing fetch. He was so smart, and learned how to use a doggy door and was crate-trained in his foster home. Bodhi was also an early riser who liked to start his day with a brisk walk or run - thirty minutes minimum!

When looking for the perfect home for Bodhi, we knew it had to be special.

Mark and Linda are previous adopters. They have had many GSP’s, all who were loved deeply and have passed away. They understood the needs for this breed, and missed having a GSP in their home, so they came back to us and applied for a young GSP, but were open to other ages as well. Both retired, they had the time and the room to give a young GSP like Bodhi a life of never ending fetch, exercise, and surround him with many friends to play with, as their children who live close by would bring their dogs over to play.

We decided to introduce them to a few dogs since they were making quite a long drive. They were so excited and were counting down the days. They brought their sons dog, Dakota with them to meet the dogs to see how they would do since they would be spending alot of time together. Once they arrived and met all of the dogs, they had made an instant connection with Bodhi, and decided he was the one.

We are grateful to Mark and Linda for coming back to us to adopt a GSP. We were thrilled to be able to place another dog with them, as we knew any dog who was fortunate enough to be adopted and loved by them, would be one lucky dog.

“A long overdue email…

It’s been 4 months since we were blessed to adopt Bodhi (now spelled Bodie) from So Cal GSP Rescue. What a joy he brings to our home…

It has been a wild but fun ride so far and everyone who meets him is smitten with him.

Bodie is a very typical GSP. He is an avid counter surfer (we are still working on this!), digging, ball fetching, toy destroying guy.

He loves all people and dogs and is the first to greet anyone who dares come into the yard or house. He has lots of doggie cousins that come over each day and he loves to romp and play with them inside the house or out.

Each day we go exploring in all the tundra, trails, lakes and canals that our town has to offer. We do (at least) two walks each day and he always lets us know when it’s time! We walk several miles but he runs at least 3 or 4 more. All the while he is running after the ball that we “chuck” as far as we can.

When he is finally tired out, he is the best Velcro dog that thinks he is a lap dog! (Napping in the afternoon is his favorite time.)

Bodie loves to go on any road trip we take and gets so excited when he sees us packing. He is game for anything as long as he can put his head out the car window and we stop at all the dog parks on the way.

We went to Arizona to see a friend and she (of course) loved him!! He just keeps us laughing all the time. We took Todd’s dog , Dakota, with us and they had a blast in her pool.

He got his first (and second, and third!) pup patty at In n Out. We always stop there when we have a chance since we miss having one close!

It’s been 8 months now and Bodie is a rockstar. He is definitely the center of our family.

He is the most polite, amazing boy. And so very smart and trainable. Well, all except for the whole counter surfing thing… LOL!

He loves to go out on the trails with his “cousins”. They all roam free and get each other in “trouble”. He has only had one small encounter with some barbed wire. Now he steers very clear of it. He is a fast learner.

We will make sure to send an update when we get closer to his gotcha day. Truthfully, he has done more for us than we have done for him… Our lives are so much fuller now!

Thanks so much Greg and Teri for blessing us with Bodie. So Cal GSP Rescue is a first-class rescue and we couldn’t be more appreciative for allowing us to become Bodie’s forever family”.
